Nothing better than a bit of citrus to start your day.
makes 2 (half) servings
1 ripe grapefruit
1 tsp brown sugar
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tbs honey
a pinch of ground cloves
sea salt for sprinkling
sea salt for sprinkling
Set your oven to broil on low. Slice your grapefruit around the middle, making two halved servings. With a paring knife, cut along each of the segments to loosen it up. (This makes for easier eating.) Place halves cut side up on a baking sheet. Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, honey and cloves in a small bowl. Once combined, spread the mixture on the cut sides of the grapefruit. Make sure to spread the love evenly to every little triangle. Place the baking sheet on the top rack of the oven. Keep your eyes peeled–the last thing you want is to completely torch the thing. It will take 5-7 minutes for the sugar, honey and spices to completely melt and saturate the fruit. Remember, watch very closely . . . Serve your grapefruit immediately. It’ll be warm, juicy and delicious.

Everything is good with a bit of brown sugar . . . and honey. Don’t forget the honey!
