What can I say? We like our chocolate chip cookie bars . . .
Even though this recipe is a good one, I couldn’t just let things be. Call me a rebel. I like to improvise, add a pinch of this and an extra dash to that. Tweaking recipes is my thing. I traded the semi-sweet chips for ultra rich, dark chocolate morsels. I also used a 9×13 pan. This made my bars the perfect thickness for pairing with a hefty scoop of vanilla ice cream. To gild the lilly, I sprinkled the batter with coarse sea salt right before baking. I’m obsessed with all things chocolate-y and salty.
I never regret making a recipe my own. Changing chips or a sprinkling salt, there’s no harm if it ends up tasting this good.
