Chocolate Chip Scones Recipe . . .
A simple scone recipe is one to keep on hand. It’s deliciously sweet, making it the perfect breakfast treat.
makes ~8 scones
2 c. Original Bisquick mix
1 c. chocolate chips
1/3 c. milk
1 tsp. fine salt
3 tbs. sugar + sugar for topping
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 425 degrees, and butter a baking sheet.
In a large bowl, combine Bisquick mix, chocolate chips, milk, salt, sugar, egg and vanilla. The dough will begin to form a soft ball.
Transfer the dough onto the buttered baking sheet. Pat it out to be a 8-inch wide circle. If the dough is too sticky, rub Bisquick mix onto your fingers (like you would do with flour).
Without slicing all the way through the dough, use a knife to cut 8 scones. Start by cutting down the middle and into fourths. You’ll then divide evenly from there.
Sprinkle additional sugar on the circle to coat the top of each scone. Be as generous as you want.
Bake at 425 degrees for 12 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from the oven, and carefully separate each scone. Serve immediately with a tall glass of milk while the scones are still warm.
