These banana bread flavors are meant to be friends.
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
3 large bananas, over-ripened and mashed
1/3 c. whole walnuts, chopped*
1/3 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees, and lightly grease a loaf pan.
In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. Set these dry ingredients aside. Using a separate bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add bananas to the butter and brown sugar mixture. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, and mix well. Softly fold in the walnuts and chocolate chips.
Pour batter into the greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 for an hour or until the bread is set and golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes (in loaf pan) before serving.
*I buy my nuts in bulk and store them in the freezer. It’s a great way to make sure you always have some on hand.
