A day trip to Selma, Alabama . . .
Last week, I made my way home. It was a quick trip, but there was enough time to take a drive down to Selma.
The city both looks and feels historic–and rightly so. During the ’60s, the Edmund Pettus Bridge was the sight of multiple peaceful protests lead by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. These demonstrations helped pave the way for the Voting Rights Act. In 2013, the bridge was declared a National Historic Landmark. Today it remains open for both pedestrian and vechical traffic, and it boasts the most serene views at sunset.
