‘How’d you grow it out so fast?’
Last year, I cut off and donated 10+ inches of my hair. It was something I always wanted to do but kept finding excuses not to do it.
I finally mustered up the courage and got the chop. Looking back, it was the best beauty decision I have ever made. The fresh slate and new style gave me the chance to re-evaluate my hair care routine. I made some drastic changes, quit a few habits and formed new ones. The results speak for themselves, and my hair is the healthiest it’s ever been. In just over a year, it has grown 13+ inches.
So, what’s the secret?
The biggest adjustment I made was ditching my hot tools. This is a game-changer. I’ve limited my blow dryer, straightener and curling iron use to just once a week. For the days in between, I let my hair air dry or use dry shampoo (for brunettes or for blondes) to extend the life of my blowout.
Second, I implemented a new weekly routine. It’s simple and easy to follow. From daily products to using an overnight deep conditioner, this routine ensures that my hair gets the TLC it needs.
Last, but not least, I’ve made key changes in the things I eat. I swap soda for water at meals, take a daily multi-vitamin, steer clear of processed foods and try to avoid refined sugars. Over time, these dietary improvements have made my hair shinier and noticeably stronger.
It’s also important to remember that each head of hair is a little bit different. Try these things or tweak them to fit your needs. In the end, your hair will thank you.
