Harvesting honey . . .
Over the weekend, we prepped our bees for winter and harvested our first batch of honey. It was a labor of love, made up of multiple hours and lots of sticky fingers.
Our good friend Paul turned us on to beekeeping. He kept a hive on his terrace in London–the gardens in Regent’s Park made his honey taste like heaven. Since moving back to the states, Paul convinced us to start a hive of our own.
It’s been just over a year, and our hive is about 30,000 bees strong. With a bit of luck, we’ll be able to split the colony next year. That means double the honey come harvest time. Cue those heart eyes.
Have you ever tried locally sourced honey?
