A Braid Breakdown . . .
For the past few weeks, I’ve been brushing up on my braid game. Pinterest and YouTube are my favorite place to find style inspiration–here are a few braids I’m currently practicing. They’re visually striking and pack a big stylistic punch.
Regular 3 Strand Braid
With minimal effort, this simple three strand braid is easy to achieve. I tend to wear mine a bit looser and off to the side like the photos below.
Messy French Braid
A messy French braid feels whimsical and romantic. Think fairy tales, magic spells and princesses locked away in castle towers. This French braid tutorial taught me the basics (start at 1:12).
Braided Combinations
Since I’m new to braiding, I like the idea of pairing simpler styles for a more dramatic look. It’s an easy way to make a statement. TIP: make sure to always start with dirty hair or lots of dry shampoo.
Twisted Up-do Braid
These twisted styles are by far my favorite. This side twist tutorial (start at 1:18) taught me how to do the twist part of the style. I like to continue the twist down and around to the nape of my neck, incorporating more hair as I go.
