Dock Street Theatre . . .
The thing I love most about visiting Charleston is the history around every corner, and the Dock Street Theatre in the French Quarter is such gem. Originally built in 1809 as the Planter’s Hotel, this recently restored building is like a step back in time–beautiful, charming and oh so picturesque.
My favorite feature is the beautiful ironwork seen encasing the second story balcony. It was added to the hotel in 1835 and has been a beloved focal point ever since. I can imagine sitting in rocking chairs and sipping lemonade under it’s shade. Wouldn’t that be dreamy?
We stumbled upon the Dock Street Theatre while wandering the streets in search of a place to grab dinner. More on Charleston’s incredible food scene coming soon. This girl ate very well.
Have you ever been? What do you like most about the city?
