3rd trimester . . .
On Saturday, I celebrated my 33rd week of my first pregnancy. I can’t believe how far I’ve come and just how soon Baby Girl could possibly arrive. Undoubtedly, the feelings of excitement and anxiety are in full swing.
How far along are you + what size is the baby?
I’m currently 33 weeks + 4 days, and Baby Girl is the size of a pineapple. Great news–her stats have doubled since my 2nd trimester update. At about 4.25 lbs and 17 inches, the rate of Baby Girl’s growth has significantly picked up in the last few weeks.
How do you feel? Any updates?
Early Sunday morning, I started experiencing symptoms of preterm labor aka four hours of real-deal contractions. It’s been a whirlwind of emotions because this wasn’t something I expected. But thanks to modern medicine and a really great doctor, we have a solid plan in place. This includes a healthy dose of bed rest (days and possible weeks) to help postpone Baby Girl’s arrival. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Want to know more? Let’s email via aubry @ findingbeautifultruth.com. I’m happy to share additional details in an intimate setting.
Does Baby Girl have a name?
Unfortunately, there’s no name yet, but we have settled on a few possible contenders. I’m a fan of traditional names that are easy to spell and pronounce. Jake is a fan of alliteration and loves the idea of a first name that starts with the letter L. Hopefully, we can find a happy medium before she makes her debut. It’s crunch time.
How is the nursery coming along? Any recent purchases?
The nursery is just about done! I still have a few finishing touches, like personalized details and wall decor, that I want to add. Have any recommendations? I’d love to find a cute animal bust to hang on the wall. This felt flamingo is really tempting me.
Recent purchases:
Unique Loom Barcelona rug
Threshold 5 ft. Storage Ladder (for blankets)
Circo Clouds Mobile + Felt Ball Garland via Etsy (easy DIY)
Bubula Stainless Steel Diaper Pail
Storksak Diaper Bag
Are you nervous about labor and delivery?
Due to recent events, I am a little concerned that labor may come too early. Ideally, I’d like to keep her growing as is for as long as possible. I hear that’s a normal concern for all expectant mothers, so I don’t feel too out of place.
I’m planning to surround myself with positive vibes, lots of Christmas movies and an occasional cup of hot cocoa. These things should definitely keep any nerves at bay.
Have you taken maternity photos yet?
Yes! The photo featured above is a little sneak peek. My goal for this pregnancy was to get as much done as soon as possible so I could celebrate the holiday season without any added stress. Thank you December due date. The mentally has actually worked in my favor, seeing as my current activity level is significantly reduced.
For our maternity session, we met Haley up Big Cottonwood Canyon to capture a few special images of us. Jake really enjoyed working with her for our pregnancy announcement (and you know I love working with her), so it was a match made in heaven. I wore this Ann Taylor sweater dress in navy. It’s non-maternity and is currently available in two additional colors. You can find more similar sweater dress styles here, too.
I’ll be sharing my favorites from the session in an upcoming 3rd trimester recap post. Stay tuned!
