Kitchen progress update . . .
Houston, we have cabinetry! I’ve been (not so patiently) waiting for this day, and I’m so excited to share a few kitchen progress photos. It’s one of the biggest transformations–can you believe this is where we started? We removed + rebuilt walls, relocated plumbing and added a more functional floor plan. I can’t wait to see how the rest of the space comes together over the next couple of months.
If you’ve been following @ourmidmodreno on Instagram, you’ve probably already seen the evolution of our kitchen. Click here for a quick refresher. The been one heck of a ride, and we’re just getting to the fun part. When the island cabinetry is installed, we’ll take measurements for the countertops and start on the finish work like baseboards, casing around doors + windows, installing lighting and backsplash tile. Our new appliances also need to go in. There are lots of details left, but we’re finally starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Before Photos
Our new kitchen is now located where the old dining room used to be. By removing the wall separating the old kitchen and dining space, we’ve opened up the entire main floor living space. We also removed the the siding door and the corner window unit in the old kitchen. (Psst! Here more ‘before’ kitchen photos.) This made way for a new back wall to hang cabinetry on–our new range goes essentially where the old sliding door was.

Yes, it’s still very much a construction zone, and the space is far from finished. I am really happy about the black cabinetry though. It’s sleek, minimal and contrasts with the white walls and natural wood details. Up next, they’ll install the solid surface countertops, the tile backsplash and the coordinating stainless steel appliances. It’ll be both beautiful and functional.
Speaking of, what does your dream kitchen look like?

Love love LOVE black cabinets! It looks so modern and chic. My dream kitchen won’t be in our current home (it’s too small for the one I want!) but it would have to be black or charcoal cabinets, gold accents, white subway tile and a huge island. A girl can dream!
