A May to-do list . . .
Hello, sunshine! After a very rainy month of April, I’m so excited to soak up some vitamin D and spend our afternoons playing at the park. It feels like the unofficial start of summer, something I’ve really been looking forward to. I find it so much easier to fill our days when the weather is warm. Don’t you? So, grab a spot on the couch, and let’s get scheming + dreaming up your May to-do list.
Make Meal-Prep Happen
I’m not a point where I can plan out a week’s worth of meals in advance, but I am a fan of getting a head start so weeknight meals come easy. Each Sunday, I spend an hour cooking things like chicken, a few servings of rice and roasted veggies. I also like to chop up various vegetables and fruit for ready-to-make snacks, sides or salads.
Take Inventory of Your Swimwear
Yep, it’s time to sort though, organize and declutter your swimsuit collection. This would be a good opportunity to use the KonMari Method. Start by asking yourself if each swimsuit sparks joy. If not, let it go.
Do Dinner al Fresco for Date Night
Now that the days are getting warmer, the nights only call for a light jacket. Why not have a romantic dinner and date out on the patio? Hanging cafe lights are highly encouraged.
Focus on Your Core
This shouldn’t come as a surprise, but your core muscles are the most important muscle group to train. I’m talking more than just trying to sculpt a six-pack, people. Your abdominal muscles act as a support system to your entire body. This article via SHAPE shares the why behind it all (it’s only a 5 minute read).
Celebrate the Mothers in Your Life
Mother’s Day is May 12th, but I’m voting that we celebrate the women we love ALL month long. It doesn’t have to be extravagant. Things like a quick phone call to say hi, a note filled with love or a simple bouquet of flowers are just the ticket. Who’s with me?
Add a Denim Jacket to Your Collection
I wear my denim jacket ALL year long. It’s the perfect piece to mix, match and layer from season to season. These styles check all of the boxes–how cute is that floral embroidery? And the white cropped version is ideal for sundresses. Click the pictures below to shop the jackets:
Move Your Workout Outside
I made it a goal to get outside whenever the weather is nice. This means long after-nap walks around the neighborhood with the girls. It’s a great workout for me, and we all get to enjoy some fresh air + sunshine. I’m really looking forward to more workouts outside. It’s the best way to boost our moods and beat the inevitable afternoon slump.
P.S. Anyone have a double jogger they love? There are so many options out there. I’d love to hear what brand/style you have + like.
Ditch Candy for Two Weeks
They say that it takes 30 days to make a habit and 30 days to break a habit. Why not ease our way into a candy-free lifestyle with a simple two week fast? 14 days is FAR less daunting than an entire month. It feels do-able, and chances are, we’ll be more likely to try it again or extend our candy-free quest long after we hit day 14.
Start Your Day with a Positive Mantra
I’m a firm believer that our thoughts can either make or break our day. Here are 50 mantras + affirmations to start your day with positivity and a go-getter attitude. It really does help!
Switch Up your Decor
Neurologists have found that home decor really can help to boost your mood. This article via Oprah is a quick read and gives some good ideas on how to elevate your space. I’ve found that switching out my gallery wall art is just the pickup I usually need–I like to include pictures of travel inspiration, bright colors and a few personal mementos.
Shameless plug: I just added some new photos to The FBT Shop! It’s such an easy + cost effective way to DIY your existing space. Think print out pictures and fill in old frames. Cue that future happy dance.
Hey, friends! What’s on YOUR May to-do list?
