MCM exterior progress update . . .
Woah, woah, woah! We’ve been living in @ourmidmodreno for over a month. Time sure does fly when you’ve got boxes to unpack, closets to organize and lots of little projects left to tackle. I’m thinking there’s really no such thing as a move-in ready home. Hashtag renovation realities. Even in the midst of perpetual sawdust, I am SO HAPPY to call it home. With a welcome like this can you blame me? Today I’m dishing dirt on our MCM exterior + sharing little progress update.
The Door
One of the first things we picked out was this Simpson Door Co. front door and coordinating sidelight. (You can read all about how we chose our front door and see a few install/before photos.) I love the sections of cross reed glass because they let in so much light yet still offer privacy. Plus, the style pays tribute to the original entryway from the ’50s. It had cross reed glass, too.
The Numbers
Next, came our house numbers. We wanted something big, bold and unique. Thankfully, we stumbled across Modern House Numbers on Instagram. Their products are made in the USA, and they are customizable to suit your style needs. We went with 12″ powder coated black numbers in their SoCal font. It’s the perfect Mid-Century touch. I can’t wait to add landscaping and snap photos of a finished exterior. We’ve collaborated with Modern House Numbers to bring you some really great content! In the mean time, click here to take their fun fonts for spin.
The Mailbox
To round things out, our mailbox needed an update. This minimal design has great reviews, mounts flush to the wall and looks really sleek. We ordered it in matte black to coordinate with our door hardware (found here) and house numbers. Psst! If you have a more traditional home, the mailbox also comes in beige, green and white.
What’s Next?
We have big plans (and a lot of little projects to do) through the end of the year, and I’m excited to share more updates as we inch toward the finish line. LANDSCAPING is definitely in the lineup. I’m talking dirt work, concrete removal, a new fence (+ mayyyybe a deck?) and all new sod. We’ve come so far, but we still have a lot left to do.
