Cozy home updates . . .
Since we’ve been staying home a lot lately, it’s more important than ever that our space is warm and inviting. Our Mid-Mod reno is a work in progress, but I’m tackling DIY projects + cozy home updates after the girls go to bed. It’s a welcomed distraction that helps to keep my anxiety at bay (read about it in this post). By the way, how are you coping with the chaos? Need a distraction, too? Here are a few ways I’ve incorporated more texture, more color and something that always makes me smile.
Refresh Bedding + Bath Linens
I’ve been eyeing a washed linen duvet set, but it’s a bit out of my budget. Instead, I found a this washed cotton alternative that channels the same vibe. I love the chambray denim hue and the lived-in style. It’s looks perfectly imperfect and feels completely practical in our master bedroom.
Psst! These bath towels are similar to ours are made with Turkish cotton. Say hello to luxury.
Update Wall Art
This is an easy one–just swap out your old photos or art for something different. It’s amazing how wall art can completely transform your space. I’m a fan of digital download art (shameless plug for The FBT Shop!) because it’s such an affordable option. All in, you get new wall art for under $20. I like to send my prints to an online photo center and then have them shipped directly to my door. Easy, peasy.
Make a Gallery Wall
We took family photos in February, and I’ve been so excited to add them to our walls. I can’t help but smile every single time I walk by. Do you have a wall that makes you grin?
I bought this set of 12×12 frames plus this picture hanging kit and went to town. PSA: I highly recommend planning your gallery layout before hammering into the walls. I used painter’s tape to mark out straight lines, a pencil and a tape measure. It’ll save a lot of time in the end, and your gallery might actually look level.
Add some Mirror Magic
We purchased this circle mirror and have been in love ever since. I should admit that we had a bit of difficulty hanging it (the drywall screw was far from cooperative). Besides that, I love how much light and life it adds to our space. I went with the white finish in an effort to minimize contrast (you can also get it in black, pewter, silver + brass). We really wanted the mirror’s reflection to act as a piece of art on our wall.
Music to Soothe the Soul
I feel like this is a no-brainer. Guys, we love our afternoon dance parties. The girls especially enjoy listening to music as I make dinner. We’ve added Sonos speakers (white + black) to our main living space and our master bedroom. They integrate with both Alexa or Google so it makes listing to our favorite tunes WAY easier and far more enjoyable.
