Blogging tips . . .
It’s no secret that the blogging world is experiencing a bit of confusion right now. What do we share? What content do our readers want to see? How can we create value without making more noise? I’ve asked myself similar questions lately. Rather than continue treading water, here are five blogging tips to help maintain your blog, build your brand and keep connecting with your online community. Now more than ever, we should find ways to add rather than subtract. I’m still working on it, and I’m sure you are, too. Let’s do it together.
Update Your Cover Photos + Profile Picture
Has it been a while since you updated your cover photos? How about your blog header? A simple swap can really spruce up your site. If your profile picture is over a year old, maybe it’s time for a quick refresh. Don’t be like me. Guys, I’m so guilty of stale branding. I just updated my cover photos on FBT social media platforms, my blog header got a tiny makeover and before the month is up, I hope to have a new picture in my sidebar. Are you up for the challenge?
Declutter Your Pinterest Account
I recently read Jessica’s post about how she significantly grew her Pinterest following. It’s packed with great information, helpful tips and actual examples of things that work. It inspired me to start decluttering my own Pinterest page. If our profiles are thoughtfully curated, followers can actually find the information they want + need to see.
Psst! Like Jessica, I 100% agree that Tailwind has completely upped my pinning game (and I’m just getting started). The analytic tools alone are well worth the money. If you want to give it a try, you can get $15 toward your Tailwind membership by clicking my referral link here. It’s a win, win.
Make New Social Media Graphics
Do a quick search through your website archives for posts that may not be preforming as well as they should be. Now is a great time to create new graphics to give life to these past posts. If you’re not fluent in Photoshop, I highly suggest using Canva (free phone app!) to quickly create templates for social media graphics. You can save each template and swap out text + graphics from one blog post to the next.
Thoughtful Content > Constant Content
Engaging, well-composed content preforms far better than content produced just to have something to post. It makes perfect sense when you think about it. If you don’t have the bandwidth to push out quality content every single day, don’t make that your goal. Instead, aim to produce a few really great blog posts each month. Quality trumps quantity, and you + your audience will notice the difference.
Interact with Followers
I’m trying my best to respond to comments, direct messages and emails within 48 hours of receiving them. I’m also trying to share more candid, in-the-moment posts to my Instagram Stories and interact more with my friend’s social posts. I’m taking 15 dedicated minutes each day to interaction (be sure to set a timer so you don’t end up in a loop of endless scrolling). Historically, I haven’t been the best at juggling #momlife with small business responsibilities. BUT the point is that I’m trying. If we start small, these actions will eventually turn into habits with far reaching impact.
