New mom advice . . .
I’ve been thinking a lot about motherhood lately. There are times I still can’t believe I have two little girls of my own. They bring so much joy, they make me crazy and I can’t imagine life without them. As a new mom, I was so unsure of what my future days would bring. Parenting hasn’t come easy, but I’m constantly learning as I go. It’s been a lot of trial and error to be honest. If I could go back in time, here’s a bit of new mom advice I’d happily pass along.
Things to Remember
There will be days when you feel lost, but your little ones will always know where to find you. You are exactly where you’re meant to be.
Get outside when the weather is nice. Sunshine instantly boosts your mood.
The needy years might be some of the hardest. You’ll eventually feel like yourself again. You’ll have time again. You’ll get sleep again. Hang in there.
You can think of motherhood as either a burden or a blessing. Your mindset will completely change your day.
Keep trying. You won’t ever be perfect, but you can always say that you sincerely tired your best.
Take care of yourself. Your mental, physical and spiritual health should be one of your top priorities. It’s REALLY hard to be your best mom-self if you’re trying to perform at a deficit.
Don’t forget your marriage. Do date night in. Leave love notes around the house. Your relationship with your spouse tends to take a backseat when little ones arrive, but parenting is easier if you can successfully work as a team.
Eat at least one square meal a day. Yes, I’m talking protein, fruits, veggies, some sort of grain and definitely a little something as a treat. You deserve it.
It’s ok to say no. Also, you don’t have to make excuses or justify the decisions you make as a mother.
Don’t beat yourself up. I promise that you’re doing a really great job.
